Terra Fortis Group, LLC is a real estate consulting and investment firm with a mission to create win-win solutions for commercial real estate challenges regardless of their complexity or the circumstances at hand. Terra (Latin for Earth) Fortis (Latin for Strength) Group was formed in April of 2013, but its founders have been involved in real estate for many years in some form or fashion.
Rich, JoJo and Chris bring their combined talents and empathy for people and their needs together to create mutually beneficial scenarios for both property owners and investors. For asset owners who are burdened with properties they can no longer care for, afford, or desire to retain, we can present a variety of options including refinancing, capital stack restructuring, or disposition. If a property meets our investing criteria we may choose to acquire it for our own portfolio or present it to our network of high net worth investment partners. For investors, we can make available difficult-to-identify or off-market opportunities offering great value-add potential. Whatever the desired objective may be Terra Fortis has the experience, creative talent and professional resources to achieve it.

Meet Our Team
Richard Tabares
Managing Director
Richard Tabares’ involvement in property acquisitions dates back to his college years in the 1980's (while majoring in Business with an emphasis on Finance/Real Estate); when, as President of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, he helped structure the purchase of his fraternity’s principal residence via a partnership comprised of members’ parents and alumni - it was his first syndication of sorts. After graduation, Rich obtained a realtor’s license and became a mortgage broker in Southern California. Over the years he’s been involved in virtually all aspects of real estate investments from land lease options and property wholesaling to office space lease negotiations and commercial building acquisition transactions during his career.
JoJo Tabares
Director of Acquisitions
JoJo Tabares was also a licensed realtor in California and has been top sales associate and sales manager in various capacities throughout her career. Additionally, JoJo is a communication expert having published more than a dozen communication and debate books over the years (she also holds a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication). As a result of her expertise, she has been invited to speak at various events/conventions, has been published in numerous magazines and has repeatedly made radio and podcast appearances over the years.
Chris Tabares
Director of Operations
After graduating from Purdue University studying film, Chris went on to direct numerous projects including a feature-length movie. Since then, he has expanded his work into the world of real estate. His journey began with arranging creative finance deals for single family homes before transitioning into commercial properties. Eventually, he not only followed in the footsteps of the family business, but also became more involved in serving his church and local community. Chris now utilizes his range of skills as a filmmaker and investor to provide help for businesses as well as provide housing for the homeless population.
